The producers of BIG The Musical had hoped they would be able to load their equipment into the London's Dominion Theatre early despite the ongoing refurbishment work occurring at the theatre. Unfortunately, this has not been possible, so they have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the first few previews. The highly-anticipated musical will now begin its West End run on 10 September for previews. Two new matinee performances for the show have been added to the October performance schedule in order to make up for the cancellations.

The iconic 1988 movie is beloved across the generations, ranging from hardcore fans who know all the words to ‘Shimmy Shimmy Cocoa Pop’ to fans who get a hit of nostalgia and just remember the infamous piano scene. However, everyone should be excited for this all-new staged adaptation which is set to make its West End debut at London’s Dominion Theatre. Big The Musical is set to make its West End premiere at London’s Dominion Theatre in September of this year. The musical premiered in the UK in 2016 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth before transferring to the BGE Theatre in Dublin, and at long last, it is making its highly-anticipated transfer after an almost two-year wait! As previously announced, Jay McGuiness will reprise the role of Josh Baskin, after having played the role in the Irish production. Since initial casting was confirmed, the full cast announcement has been eagerly awaited and just 10 weeks until the show opens, the news has finally arrived!

Further casting has been announced for the upcoming West End premiere of Big, the musical based on the hit Tom Hanks film of the same name. Set to join the previously announced Jay McGuiness of The Wanted in the role of Josh Baskin are Matthew Kelly, Kimberley Walsh, and Wendi Peters. The strictly limited nine-week run at London's Dominion Theatre opens on 6 September and is booking until 2 November 2019. Tickets are on sale now.

Following the closing earlier this year of West End fan-favourite Bat Out of Hell, it appears the Dominion Theatre has finally found its next 'big' musical to take over its stage. It has just been officially announced that Big The Musical will be making its long-awaited London premiere following two years of sitting in production limbo. Jay McGuiness, best known for being one-fifth of the British-Irish boyband, The Wanted, is set to reprise his role as Josh Baskin from the smash-hit runs in Plymouth and Dublin.
